Artist Statement
My theme was nature in watercolor. I selected this theme so that i could challenge myself to use a new media. I am always interested in trying different techniques to make art your own and I have always thought that nature was beautiful no matter the setting or season. Using watercolor for this was challenging because I don't work with it often. I wanted to make sure that all of the textures were as realistic as possible. It took a lot of trial and error by experimenting with different brushes and colors. While researching what pictures i could recreate it was amazing to see how much variety is in nature, making it hard to pick just three to paint. I feel very accomplished with the work that i have done. I have showed a lot of growth in the use of texture since my first painting (mountains). I have also gotten a better feel of how to use watercolor and control the brushes. I am most proud of the wave painting because I think it is the most realistic out of the three.

For the instillation art project, Cassie and I worked on an apocalyptic looking locker. First we made vines by cutting out leaves and gluing them on cardboard. We made bark for the locker's background, using hot glue . to finish, we used different color greens to make moss on the tree.
Out of all of the art boot camps that we have had in Mrs. Purtee's class, drawing has been my favorite. Drawing has always been my favorite type of art because you are more in control and you can fix your mistakes. You can also make small details in your art that you would not be able to make in other art forms. I love to explore different materials for art, but pen and pencil are my backups. Mrs. Purtee was also open to most ideas, allowing plenty of room for creativity.
