I made the sunset and blue and green sphere with pastel pencils. I enjoyed using them more because you had more control. I made the gradient, green sphere, and apple with chalk pastels. I found that the chalk was easier to blend, but a lot messier than the pencils.

I loved working with the prismacolors and using the different techniques to make the shades, highlights and shadows. I definitely want to practice with these more and do a bigger project with them.
I have never tried any art with Prisma Color before and I enjoyed using them and finding out how different colors go with different papers. I would like to practice and do more work with them.
SELF EVALUATION
1. Discuss your decision on pen and ink techniques. Why you chose to use one or more. I chose stippling as my technique because it would make smooth gradients and it would make it easier to add shadows in certain places. 2. How did you use perspective? Why is perspective important? I used perspective by drawing smaller and darker jellyfish, whales, and schools of fish to show distance. I made a gradient of bubbles in the background to show depth and added shadows underneath the jellyfish. Perspective is important to make the picture look realistic and more interesting. 3. How is texture important in your composition? Texture is important so that you know what the feeling of the surface is supposed to be. For example, I wanted the tops of the jellyfish to be smooth so made a soft gradient from the bottom to the top. 4. Why is value so important in this project? Value is important in this project because the way we see things is by the amount of light or dark there is on an object. Without it, it would be hard to recognize and it would look flat 5. Describe your craftsmanship (How well the project is crafted technically) I think it has a good amount of value but it would have been better if I added the shadows more carefully instead of trying to hurry to get it done. 6. If you could recreate your piece what would you do differently to enhance your final outcome? I would add the background and shadows more carefully so it would look more realistic. 7. When applying the pen and ink techniques why and how is it important to make sure you understand the concepts taught in class? It is important to understand the techniques you use because if you don’t and you start your final it will look awkward and incomplete. 8. As a growing artist how do you think what you have learned will guide and better your future projects. This project helped me understand how different techniques will add to my artwork and make it look more realistic and textured. Still Life Pencil Drawing with Value SELF EVALUATION
