I based my style off of these 2 paintings by Henri Toulouse-Lautrec because these were my favorite pieces he did.

1. real 2. long thin brush strokes 3. lots of colors 4. kind of messy 2. Describe the craftsmanship of your painting. (Is it neat and well executed?) It is not very neat because his style is messy, but it is well executed and shows his style. 3. What was the most difficult part of this project? Mixing the colors was the hardest part. I kept messing up and having to mix more or layer more on so you couldn't see my mistakes. I did a good job covering them up though. 4. Describe your color choices and how they reflect the work of your chosen artist? I used many different colors like he did but I used some of the same ones to mix different colors and create harmony. 5. Describe how the style of your landscape reflects your chosen artist. It reflects him because I used thin brush stokes for most of the painting and used many different colors. 6. What do you think your chosen artist would say if he or she could see your painting today? He would probably say that I made a good effort but it wasn't the best. I wouldn't disagree with him. 7. What would you do differently if you were to do this project again? I would make it more messy and less symmetrical. The whole time I was so worried about getting the right colors that I didn't pay attention to how I used my brush. Self Evaluation
1. Describe the craftsmanship of your sculpture. (Is it neat and well executed?) I think it was well executed. I worked very hard to make this neat by working with a needle. 2. What was the most difficult part of this project? The most difficult part of this project was getting over the feeling of clay on my hands. I hate the texture and I think that’s why I made something so small because I wanted to get it over with quickly. 3. Did your color choices work together harmoniously? Yes, I used the same red all over the orange so that it would come together well. I used different yellows on the inside to make them look separated. 4. Is your sculpture interesting from all views? I think it is. It looks almost the same from all sides. 5. Describe the differences in constructing a sculpture and doing something 2D. A sculpture is harder to do because there are many different angels and sides to work on. When you do 2D art, I think it is less stressful because you only have to focus on what’s in front of you instead of everything around it. 6. How did you create textures in your sculpture? I used a needle to make the dots and little juice pockets. I used the end of the needle to create divots and texture on the rind of the orange. 7. Does your sculpture look like the actual food? How did you accomplish this? I think it does. I used many different shades and tints to show depth and layers. 8. What would you do differently if you were to do this project again? I would have been more patient so I could do something bigger. I also would have done something more interesting and detailed with more accurate colors. The clay was my least favorite project in this class and I found it hard to mold and get the right shape, especially the single wedge of orange. I think the only thing I am proud of in this project is the top of the half orange. The detail of the orange was hard to do because of how small it was.
I enjoyed doing this painting because we had something to compare it to. The one I painted is on the right. Mixing the colors was easier than I thought it was going to be. I think I did a good job making the pictures look the same.
I was absent for most of the mixing paint and color wheel practice. This is the only warm up I got to do.
