Artist Statement
My theme was nature in watercolor. I selected this theme so that i could challenge myself to use a new media. I am always interested in trying different techniques to make art your own and I have always thought that nature was beautiful no matter the setting or season. Using watercolor for this was challenging because I don't work with it often. I wanted to make sure that all of the textures were as realistic as possible. It took a lot of trial and error by experimenting with different brushes and colors. While researching what pictures i could recreate it was amazing to see how much variety is in nature, making it hard to pick just three to paint. I feel very accomplished with the work that i have done. I have showed a lot of growth in the use of texture since my first painting (mountains). I have also gotten a better feel of how to use watercolor and control the brushes. I am most proud of the wave painting because I think it is the most realistic out of the three.
